8 Months Old 18Dec05

Christmas is coming. We have learned one undeniable truth. Babies can not resist playing with the Christmas tree. It continues to be a challenge keeping Kyle away from the tree, decorations and presents. I remember having a similar fascination with all the lights and shinny ornaments as a small kid. My parents are laughing themselves silly, as Kyle pays us back for all the mischief I caused when I was a kid.

It has been an unusually cold and snowy December. Kyle and Renee have been mostly confined to the house. Kyle continues to look for new things to explore. He is into everything! Renee and I both know that he understands the word “No”, because this is the word he hears from us most often, with the exception of his name! Unfortunately, when we tell him “No”, it only stops him about 30% of the time.

Kyle now weighs over 20.5 pounds. His lower front tooth has emerged and is now visible. The week after Thanksgiving, he sat up on his own for the first time. It wasn’t more then a week after that event, when he pulled himself up to a standing position using the downstairs bookshelf. In the weeks following, he has become a master at climbing onto furniture, with his favorite being the coffee tables in the great room. He is now able to crawl on all fours, but when he is in a hurry, he returns to the tired and true “Sniper crawl”. Now that he is standing, we have been practicing walking with him. He is just starting to “Furniture walk”, moving from table to couch to table using each object for stability and balance. It will not be long before he is freely walking…

As mentioned in a previous post, Kyle enjoys bath time. A few weeks ago we had an unfortunate event during bath time. We refer to it as the UFO – an Unidentified Floating Object. Although this must have been entertaining for Kyle, it was quite a mess for his parents.

We have several Christmas presents for Kyle, and will post photos of the big event in January.

We wish everyone a happy holidays and healthy and safe new year.
